For many years, Copenhagen has been a leading destination for the international MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) industry. Whether it’s hosting congresses, meetings or events, these initiatives play an essential role in the transfer of knowledge and professional practices. At the same time, they contribute to important economic activity – especially for hotels and venues - and serve as powerful tools for greater and broader societal values – not least among academia, businesses, clusters, and citizens.
And the landscape we’re facing? Growing international competition, expansion of congressional capacity and a recent global pandemic. All these factors, alongside technological development, digitalisation and an increasing focus on sustainability, have created a new need. A need for more focused efforts to develop and implement concepts for new congresses, especially in the capital area.
But first, meet the Copenhagen Convention Bureau (also known as CVB – a part of Wonderful Copenhagen). They work closely with cluster organisations, research environments and other key players in developing and implementing successful congresses, meetings and events. To tap into the need for conceptualising new congresses, CVB came to us. Together with LoopNordic, we’ve designed the Copenhagen Congress Incubator. Rooted in CVB’s existing expertise, the incubator introduces new approaches, tools, competencies and targeted communication for congress initiators. The purpose? To contribute to new and more permanent congresses being held in the capital area. On top of that, the incubator is here to fuel economic activity; through new collaborations, research projects, market opportunities and products.
Copenhagen is not only about to remain the leading destination for the MICE industry. It’s a capital about to elevate, innovate and pave the way for the future of congresses, meetings and events.
