What do our graduates do for a living?

The Danish School of Media and Journalism educates future media professionals. But where do the graduates go after leaving school and what value do they create?

The Challenge

The labour market is continually changing for media professionals, and hence also for the students at the Danish School of Media and journalism (Danmarks Medie- og Journalisthøjskole). DMJX needed more insights into the jobs and careers of their graduates in order to gain a deeper understanding of the labour market within the media industry.

The Solution

In 2017 and 2019, we tracked graduates from DMJX and analyzed their careers, focusing on both the industries in which they work and how they are perceived among their employers in terms of value creation. Our study combined qualitative and quantitative methods with customized data from Statistics Denmark. We mapped the graduates entering the job market and analyzed their value and contribution to the industry. We finally gave recommendations to adapt courses and educations and as wells as updating skills among teachers at DMJX.
